I had a pleasure to create a theatre poster for a play Livrai-nos da Guerra! by Agon Estrutura de criação de Teatro, Música e Dança at Teatro Baltazar Dias (Portugal). It's a beautiful story about friendship and love in times of the World War II and the Russian invasion of Ukraine in 2022.
These are some sketches I made in the process, and the final picture is confined in the shape of lapa shell, which is an important symbol of friendship between the two main characters.
The font in the final poster had to be the same one used for the previous play of the trilogy by another designer. I also made an alternative version of lettering.
The client kindly provided me with some references of the hairstyles typical for the period and place described in the play. The two girls' faces confined in the shape of the lapa shell are portraits of the two leading actresses.
